Eligibility
APF encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, race, color, religion, creed, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, gender, and geography.
Applicants must:
- be a member of APA Division 18 at the time of application submission
- be early career psychologists (no more than 10 years postdoctoral – Applicants who received their doctoral degree on or before December 31, 2013 are not considered early career for this program) OR current students in a doctoral-level psychology program. Applicants enrolled in a terminal master’s-level program are not eligible
- agree that, if awarded a grant, they will present their work through a Division 18 webinar or convention/professional meeting, or write a Division 18 newsletter article
Application Instructions
Application Materials:
- project proposal
- includes dissemination & publication plan
- project timeline
- detailed budget and justification
- CV
Components of the project proposal:
- goals, relevant background/literature review
- methods (must be detailed enough so that the design, assessments, and procedures can be evaluated), statistics & data analysis plan
- anticipated outcomes, significance and impact
- dissemination & publication plan (an example of a dissemination method is presenting at a conference) (please be sure your plan includes strategies that target the APA Division 18 membership or audience, strategies can also include dissemination and/or publication beyond APA Division 18)
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated on:
- quality and impact
- innovation, originality, & contribution to the field
- competency of applicant
- empirical soundness of proposal
- dissemination and publication plan
- relevance to APA Division 18
- budget allocations
- criticality of funding
